The Canadian Centre for Architecture is an international research institution based on the fundamental premise that architecture is a public concern. It was founded in 1979 by Phyllis Lambert as a new type of cultural institution, with the specific aim of increasing public awareness of the role of architecture in contemporary society and promoting scholarly research in the field. The CCA building opened its doors to the public on 7 May 1989. Was conceived as an organisation, CCA meant to fulfill several functions: collect, as a museum and research library; archive and document; support research; and conceptualize and broadcast knowledge.

O CCA é uma centro de pesquisa internacional fundado em 1979 por Phyllis Lambert. Criado com o objetivo de divulgar o papel da arquitetura na sociedade contemporânea e promover a pesquisa no meio académico.
O edifício abriu as suas portas a 7 de Maio de 1989. Os princípios fundadores da organização são a catalogação (museu e biblioteca), arquivo, apoio à investigação, produção crítica e transmissão de conhecimento.
